Atiba B uses ASL to sign about his excitement about  Obama and  the voting process to a  friend.
He tells her that he had just met the President-elect Obama at  his Hyde Park barbershop while getting a haircut several weeks ago.
Here's a video that I made of the joyous event at the free breakfast
celebrating native Hyde Parker and now
President-Elect, Barack Obama
at Valois in Hyde Park, Chicago on November 5, 2008.

And you thought the lines were over? A joyous and lively crowd lined down the block to celebrate Barack Obama's historic win with a free breakfast served by Valois restaurant in Hyde Park, Chicago on November 5th.
In the tradition of  Chicago's first Black Mayor, Harold Washington
and Bill Veeck, President-elect Barack Obama has been known to
stop in Valois, a diverse restaurant known for its down-to-earth
food, notable Hyde Parkers as well as common folk.

On East 53rd street in Hyde Park,  Chicago, cars honked horns for Obama,  T- shirts were selling fast, the  international  and local media were interviewing the crowd and a great breakfast was had by all on the first day after the historic win and election rally held in Grant Park, Chicago.

One Nation Under A Groove

On November 4, 2008...there were so many songs 2 sing!
While on one side of town, somebody had to be rocking out
Born in the U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen,
somewhere else, no doubt, somebody was pumping
Living in America by James Brown

After Obama's win yesterday there were people dancing in the streets in Jakarta, New York, Nairobi, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo -
this song is perfect for the occasion.
It's not the end, its just the beginning!"
Quote from poster, haasxaar on You tube on  Dancing in the Street

In a whole 'nother part of town and across the world...
they were pumping
Dancing in the Street
by Martha and the Vandellas.
(Lyrical Excerpts)
Callin' out around the world
Are you ready for a brand new beat?
Summer's here and the time is right
For dancin' in the streets
They're dancin' in Chicago
Down in New Orleans
Up in New York City

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
There'll be swingin', swayin' and records playin'
And dancin' in the streets

This is an invitation
Across the nation
A chance for the folks to meet
There'll be laughin' and singin' and music swingin'
And dancin' in the streets......

Of course, P-Funk album cover artist, Pedro Bell captures it best
with his painting of the album cover for
ONE NATION UNDER A GROOVE by George Clinton.

(Lyric excerpts)
Ready or not here we come
Gettin' down on the one which
We believe in
One nation under a groove,
gettin' down just for the funk
(Can I get it on my good foot)
Gettin' down just for the funk of it
(Good God)
'bout time I got down one time
One nation and we're on the move
Nothin' can stop us now
(Aye aye aye aye aye)

BE THE CHANGE
©2008 by Aki Antonia and Glen Burris

We must be the change we wish to see in the world
Be the change
All over the nation
Be the change
For a new generation
Be the change

All over the world
There are children dying
All over the world
There are mother's crying

All over the world
Can we find a way
for all people
to be at peace?

All over the world
There are nations falling
All over the world
The common man is calling

All over the world
Can we re-arrange?
Can we be the change
that we wish to see?

All over the world
Can we find a way
All over the world
To a brighter day?

All over the world
Can we come together?
Join together!
Live together!
Work together!
Sing together!
Dream together!

We must be the change we wish to see in the world
We must be the change we wish to see in the world
We can be One nation, One voice, One people, One choice
OBAMA
Be the change.

OBAMA
For President
Dignity, Integrity and Hope
for our families,
for our future
Be the change.

A kiss for you, Daddy!

12 days to go....... Carpe Diem!

For me... the wait is like labor... the contractions get harder and harder at the end
but it 's fine because it is the Birth of a New Nation....
the beginning of a new America...
the awakening from a long fitful sleep
to the actualization of a multicultural, multi global Dream.

Barack Obama has not only practiced Carpe Diem
but he has seized the moment in history...
a profound moment of change
that resonates around the nation.....
and around the world
as loudly as the moment that was seized by Rosa Parks....

This is not a refusal to go to the the back of the bus,
but a profound moment to drive the bus
into a new future for America and the world.
